The National Degree College, Bangalore

The National Degree College, Jayanagar, Bangalore, an autonomous college, is one of the fifteen institutions, being managed by the National Education Society of Karnataka. The Society was established in 1917 with nationalist ideals as the driving force. The College was started in 1965 with a humble strength of 110 in the Pre- University Course and now it has grown into a leading institution of higher learning in General Education. The College has several achievements to its credit in the academic field as well as extracurricular activities.

The College offers courses in B.A, B.Sc. B.Com and B.C.A. It has well equipped laboratories, a good computerized library and a vast sports field. Opportunities are provided to students to express their talents in Fine Arts and Popular Science.

The College has an excellent Library with an exclusive Reference Section housed in the ground floor of the administrative block of the college. It has more than 50,000 books on different subjects. And many encyclopedias and rare books. Transactions in the library are computerized Internet facility has also been provided to the staff and students of the college. OPAC facility has also been provided in the library. College library works throughout the calendar year. Library will be kept open from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm from Monday to Friday and 9:30 am to 2:00 pm on Saturday. Library receives general and special grants from UGC as ours is an autonomous college. Apart from the Central Library The B.V.Jagadeesh Science Center also has a library which is part of the central library of the college. It has non technical science books and popular science journals and magazines.

Our College Teams will participate in the Bangalore University and open inter collegiate competitions in the following disciplines and secured many Prizes by showing outstanding performance in various Sports/ Games i.e., Foot Ball, Basket Ball, Throw Ball, Badminton, Table Tennis, Swimming, Cricket, Volley Ball, Chess and Athletics. The Bangalore University Table Tennis Championship for Boys/ Girls for the 2008-09 was conducted in our college Auditorium.
