SJR College For Women, Bangalore

SJR College for Women is situated in Rajajinagar, amidst a thickly populated area of Bangalore. Realizing the need for a women’s college in the area, the Society started SJR College for Women in 1988 with PU classes in Arts, Science and Commerce. Encouraged by the demand for admissions, the Society acquired additional land, adjacent to the college, put up additional structures and started the degree section in 1990. The academic record of the college is good which is reflected in the students' performance in the university examination. The spacious college library has open access system, which helps the students to reach the books of their choice. The auditorium of the college with state-of-the-art stage facilities encourages the students to develop their talents in cultural activities and the programmes given by the students are much appreciated. The students of the college have represented the state and the nation in sports. The all round development of the college resulted in the university giving Permanent Affiliation in 1996 and University Grants Commission (UGC) recognized it under 12(B) and 2(f). The college feels proud of being the only un-aided college coming under Bangalore University jurisdiction getting UGC 10th plan grants. In its 19 years of growth, the college has been able to make an impact on women’s development in various ways, and in times ahead, it envisages a still greater role as a transforming agent in the lives of young women. The college visualizes greater challenges in the days ahead and is therefore equipping itself with ever greater resources and strengths to benefit the young women in its neighborhood.

SJR Education society is a pioneer in the field of education in Karnataka, with a rich history of over six decades of distinguished service to the cause of education. SJR College for Women started as a PU College in 1988, and has grown into a degree college offering courses such as In the academic year 2002-2003, it became an independent degree college when the composite SJR College for Women underwent the Degree and Pre-University bifurcation. The college has grown consistently in all areas and has built a solid base of human and material resources to offer valuable education to its students.
